Completely Boxer Crazy
So i am pregnant and have 2 very hyper boxers(inside of course)!! I am worried about them coming in the house when we have the baby and knocking something over. we have been trying to make them calm down when we bring them inside. Do you guys recommend something for this and how to introduce them to the baby so they will love the baby. anything but a big book!!

I really have no advice, but just wanted to say congrats on your pregnancy!! My name is also Taryn, and am currently 38 weeks pregnant and have a bouncy boxer Cassius (6 mos old). Good luck , and I am sure someone will have advice (this site is sooooo helpful :))

How are you trying to calm them down? How old are they? Have you done some training with them. Boxers are quick to learn so I would start now but that either means classes or one of those books you talk about :) A class would be best and there you could also get advise on introducing pups to your baby. Good luck

Congrats on your pregnancy!!!
My best advice will be to have them join training classes. They can learn to sit still, stay and stop jumping when they hear the commands. Also I'm not sure what your situation is but, when they are spayed or nuttered, they calm down some. You can start getting them use to a baby by practicing with a doll. If they are acting up around the doll, then you can start correcting them now while you still have some time.
I do know they are loving family doggies so I'm sure it will be fine. It's just going to take some adjusting on both sides, yours and them.
Best wishes to you!

Congratulations!!!! DH and i are currently trying to get pregnant and weve been thinking about all that stuff too. Were thinking ours need to go to obedience classes. They just get way to excited when we come home, hell even if we went upstairs for a few minutes LOL. We have 3 pups so we have a huge challenge on our hands, our older 2 were doing great till the little white devil came into our lives and they forgot about everything. Gotta love them. One good thing is Boxers love kids sooooo much. Good luck to you.

hope this helps

Everytime I come home I try to act like I have been in another room and I am just coming back. What I mean is very nonchalent boring not paying much attention to them. I find this helped alot plus lots of exercise to wear those puppies out. Good luck with your baby!

Good luck!!! Plenty of exercise and not pushing them out of your life would be great! My vet said get them used to all the sights and sounds and smells of a baby ASAP, and this should help.

I am not saying that you should not do any training but hopefully this will help eaze your mind. My sister in-law just gave birth and she has a very bouncy female boxer. The boxer would always be jumping all over everyone but as soon as the baby is in the room she is as good as gold. She knows that the baby is precious and is so gentle with her. She also goes up to the baby every so often and has a sniff, almost checking as if everything is ok. It is so sweet to watch. She really is a very lively boxer but is a completely different dog around the baby.

We also took our boxer Bonny around and even though Bonny was only 6 months at the time she was aware that the baby was precious and did not jump at the baby but actually stayed away.

Dogs can sense things that we can not and i am sure that your pups will be the same.

I still agree with getting some training for them though as you can never be too sure. This is just my experience.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

Well, we brought home Rylind and Cassius has been wonderful!! We just say "gentle", and he seems to know what we mean. Cassius is in obedience training and is only 7 months old. I have uploaded a picture (currently pending approval) into my gallery that will hopefully put your mind somewhat at ease! Once again, congrats on your pregnancy and enjoy both your fur and skin babies, as it is possible to have time and love for both!!
