    Lump on Neck

Lisa, I noticed your question in terms responding to my issue. If there is one thing I have learned is to be better safe than sorry, so if your Boxer has anything of concern, it wouldn't hurt to get a vet's opinion. I checked Max, and I coudn't find an adam's apple on him, so I don't know...

    Lump on Neck

Thank you all for your kind words. And yes, I am also very glad it wasn't anything worse.

    Lump on Neck

A happy ending. Just got the results from the vet and Max's lump was just a big cyst, no evidence of cancer. Apart from a scar that took 5 stitches to close, he is as good as new. Again, thank you to those who suggested that I act sooner rather than later.

    Lump on Neck

Thank you all for the additional feedback. Between that and further research that I did on the net, I have Max scheduled for surgery toremove the lump next week. Again, thank you for your comments. That is why this is such a great place. I had no experience with this but those of you who...

    Lump on Neck

My just turned 5 year old Male Boxer has a sizeable lump (approx 1 -2 cm) on the right side of his neck from aboout 2 months ago. The lump is in his skin, not on his meat or bone, because I can scoop it up with his wrinkly skin and put my fingers below it. My vet examined it closely and...

    What Food is safe?????

Timberwolf Orhganics, Solid Gold, Innova and Natural Balance are just some of the excellent dog foods that come to mind. Take a look at their various ingedients on the internet and go from there.

    Dog Food Recall

Just goes to show the extreme problems that can be caused bu poor quality dog foods. I made the horrible msitake of feedning Max Iams for the first 3 years of his life, but have made up for it since. He only eats Timberwolf Organics, Solid Gold, Innova and Natural Balance these days. And the...

    Timberwolf

It has been down just today. I am very confident they are not affected by the recall, because only poor quality dog foods that you can get at grocery stores and Walmart type stores are affected.

    Dog Food

To add my two cen't worth, I would recommend Timberwolf Organics, Solid Gold and Innova as the best 3 foods I have had the most success with (each maker has a number of excellent varieties). I'm partial to T.O., and if you read their website you will know why. Incredible attention to helathy...

    High Quality Kibble Help Please!?

Everyone has their favourites, but for your sister's purposes, I think she, and you, would do best with Timberwolf Organics. They have some great foods, all with excellent natural ingredients (and no fillers), and are made to be potentially supplemented (only if you want to) with raw or cooked...

9yo girl isn't doing so well

My condolences, this is never easy. But as many have remarked, she went fairly quicly (i.e., limited suffering) and what better way to go than in your sleep? I hope when the day comes for Max, or me for that matter (LOL), he just goes to sleep and doesn't wake up. It is sad that dogs...

    anal glands

Sorry for the typos on my previous message. I'll try to proof read better in the future.

    anal glands

This is interesting stuff. Max is almost 4 years old and I have never had this issue (in fact, didn't think it was a concern for larger breed dogs). But in terms of the stool hardness issue, I find that if I don't overfeed him and give him high quality kibble (Timberwold Organics, Innova...

Looking for Input on Heartworm & Flea Prevention

Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad to see that my logic seems reasonable. Toronto is in an area considered heartworm possible, but again, I can't remember the last time there was an actual case of heartworm in the area.

    Swollen.....

This thread is quite amusing. Just to add one other thing, have you not noticed that his "lipstick" comes out when he poops? That seems to be a Boxer thing as well. Happens to Max every time he poops, and the few other male Boxers I have observed pooping have the same issue develop. Just...

Looking for Input on Heartworm & Flea Prevention

Max is almost 4 years old and every year I have had him on a 6 month course of heartworm & flea prevention regimes. However, I live in a city environment where to run into a moquito is rare (therefore limited heartworm risk) and I hve never run into anyone whose dog ha fleas. My question...

Really Really need Some food guidance

I can only speak from my personal experience, but I would recommend the following. - Timberwolf Organics - Lamb & Apple, Dakota Bison, Wilderness Elk, Ocean Blue and Blaclforest. - Solid Gold - Barking at the Moon and Millennia Beef (when I had bags of both, I mixed them and Max really enjoyed...

zoo plus no longer selling timberwolf!!!

Don't know if they are available in the UK but I have had great success with Solid Gold (Barking at the Moon and Millennia Beef), Innova (both Evo and regular) as well as Natural Balance (although I notice N.B. has lost some ratings allure since they have decreased the amount of meat in their...

    Food Question

In response to many of your questions, please refer to the following self-explanatory excerpt from a larger article in the Nutrition section of this site. This should clarify things. Large breed and puppy foods Boxers are not large breed dogs. It is true that a few (but by no means all)...
