Miss you forever baby girl, Sammie, aka Mugster

So sorry for your loss! It's so hard but like you said, she's not suffering. They're not like family, they are family. I lost my first pup back in September. I still miss him all the time but it does get easier. I just remember all the good times and I'm thankful for the time we had.

    Brody's first snow!

He was hesitant at first but didn't take long to venture out. Now he's a snow addict! Of course this morning it was 2°F so he went out to do his business and came running back in :-)

    Brody

I lost my 10 year old, Rocky in September and just couldn't take not having a boxer in the house. I'll always miss the big guy and still think about him daily but Brody has definitely helped with the transition. He's got his own personality, that's for sure. I spent like two hours at his...

    Average Cost VA/NC

Hi Jan, and thanks for the reply and also the great suggestion. I haven't really decided which way I want to go yet but a rescue is definitely on the table too. I'm leaning toward a puppy because I really like the idea of going through the puppy experience again (crazy, I know ;-))... Of course...

    Average Cost VA/NC

I know this has been asked before but I can't find a recent thread. I want to support a responsible breeding program and in the deal hopefully get a healthy, good tempered dog. I just lost my 10 year old Boxer and haven't priced them lately. The prices I'm finding in VA and NC seem high but...

    Rest in Peace Big Guy

Thanks to you all for your kind words and prayers. Boxerworld was instrumental, especially in the early years, in raising Rocky. There's a wealth of knowledge here. From how to train to what to feed, much of what I learned came from members here, from fellow boxer lovers. I was a complete noob...

    Rest in Peace Big Guy

I lost my big guy, Rocky September 18 - he was 10 years and 9 months old. He was the first dog that ever owned me. He was very healthy his whole life and even had an excellent checkup in February. In late July, he underwent emergency surgery following a sudden collapse. An ultrasound revealed he...

    Bathtub Sprayer-Does it work?

I've got a Rinse Ace Pet Shower Deluxe which you can pick up at about any major pet store for around $30. I've used it 2 or 3 years and it makes giving Rocky a bath much easier. When done I just disconnect it from the adapter at the shower head and hang it over the curtain rod to let it dry...

    Sawing Logs..LOUDLY

Rocky is the same way. When he was little he could wake the neighbors with his snoring. He even used to wake himself up he was so loud. He still snores but nothing like he used to.

Does anyone else pup hate baths?

During the warm months, I just carry the shampoo out when I wash my car. I know Rocky is going to play in the water and he loves the hose so he doesn't even seem to notice he's getting a bath after the car is done. Now when I have to bathe him in the tub it's a different story. He doesn't...

    Poop Disposal?

I actually have one of these in the back and it works well but unfortunately my mostly red clay yard doesn't drain efficiently enough and it fills up. You also have to add water constantly and add the enzymes regularly. Too much trouble really. I just use the little poop bags every time he...

    What do you think?

I know Rocky has better night vision than I have and I have excellent eyesight (like 20/13). When I open the back door at night with the light off, he'll spot a deer at the back of the yard and take off after it. By the time I cut the light on I can barely see Rocky standing at the bottom of the...
