@Boxerworld,
Once they got on his scent trail my goodness they were pulling like sled dogs or mules. I hooked their leashes to my belt, so it wasn't too bad. Diezel surprisingly wasn't as interested in him as the girls, who kept trying to watch him for 30 meters or so while we walked on after I took the pics.
He does look handsome, in a moose sorta way.
Is it safe? I live near a park full of deer and currently it is the rutting season. Some dogs were attacked lately.
I like all your photos, but then I am into hiking (& boxers) too
@Boxerworld
Thank you,
It's safe... if you keep your distance. Cows with calves require the most distance. Any moose could make short work of stomping a dog or human and causing severe injury or death. It's rutting season here too.
We had a big cow chase us away from a larger bull last week. It was a mad dash trying to drag 3 boxers to some safety. Luckily the moose usually don't run too far.
This is a 1400 acre park at the edge of town. I have to keep the dogs on leash, unless we are in an open area where I can scan for critters first. Our favorite route takes us to the beach where I can let them run. Then around to some small ponds, where I can let them run again. After that we head back up the hill to the truck. We saw this bull 1/2 mile from the truck, after we had given up on trying to get a pic of a even larger one near the ponds.
